10 habits of successful bloggers
Today’s post is more of a motivational piece! I am sharing with you 10 habits that successful bloggers practice daily! If you have a dream to become a successful blogger it’s important to keep these 10 habits in mind!
Habit #1: They always believe in their abilities
When it comes to pursuing any dream in life, you can’t do so unless you believe in yourself! Our minds are so powerful. A positive mindset can be the one thing that PUSHES you forward.
Believe me, there will be plenty of times when you start to question if your journey is going to be worth it, or if it’s ever going to pay off. BUT shake those thoughts and remember why you started your blog in the first place!
Blogging helped me to find my confidence and positive mindset. I talk about how I use my positive mindset to accomplish my goals. Maybe this post will resonate with you too!
YOU CAN DO IT!
Habit #2: They learn from their setbacks
I can promise you that you WILL have setbacks throughout your blogging journey and it’s actually a GOOD thing! Here’s why…. When you have a setback it’s a way to LEARN.
Let’s say one day you are getting a ton of blog traffic, but then the next day that blog traffic isn’t as high. Don’t let this stress you out!! Instead, ask yourself what you might have done differently the day before and how that could have an impact on your blog traffic.
You should also keep in mind that blog traffic fluctuates all the time! There will be days when your traffic is lower than others. It’s okay! Don’t get upset.
Whenever you have a setback, learn from it! Don’t think of it as a negative issue.
Habit #3: They don’t ever give up
This is a HUGE habit to practice everyday. No matter how tough it may get, or no matter how down you may feel, don’t EVER give up!
You can only fail if you give up, if you want to be successful…DO NOT GIVE UP!
Giving up can also lead to regrets, could ofs, should ofs, and would ofs.
Habit #4: They make time for their content
Listen, I know that you don’t have all the time in the world. I GET IT. BUT, it’s time to cut back the excuses and make time for your blog! EVEN BEFORE my blog was my full time job, I treated it like it was already.
What I mean by this is, would you take weeks away from your job? NO. Probably not. So why would I take weeks away from my blog if I am trying to turn it into my career? Think of your blog as your business and show up to work CONSISTENTLY, everyday! It’s okay to take breaks, but staying consistent can make a HUGE difference!
If you are someone who struggles with getting organized and time management, then check this post out! I also share tips on how to be a consistent blogger here!
Habit #5: They practice patience
If you don’t have patience YOU WILL GIVE UP TOO SOON. Having patience is KEY when it comes to blogging success. You have to remember, success doesn’t happen over night, and if it does…then it’s probably not real.
Especially when it comes to growing your following, audience, and all that jazz. The numbers don’t pop out of thin air! You have to put in work, time, and dedication to get that growth! So have some patience and appreciate the process! If you rush the process you will end up disappointed.

Habit #6: They use their own voice
I hate to say it but there are WAY TOO MANY bloggers out there who copy rather than trying to stand out. USE YOUR OWN VOICE. Be different! Tell your own story!
If you want to stand out and make an impact as a blogger, you need to be your own voice! It’s easy to see all of these “successful” bloggers and you think you have to be JUST LIKE THEM in order to make it. But NO! wrong! You need to be JUST LIKE YOU! That will make the biggest impact and grow your audience the most! BE REAL. & BE YOU!
Habit #7: They engage & connect with their audience
A great daily habit to keep in mind is connecting and engaging with your audience on a personal level, EVERYDAY! Don’t ignore your audience! You want to make them feel heard and recognized! There are so many ways to connect with your audience:
- Always respond to comments & return the favor on all platforms
- Utilize Instagram stories to talk on a more personal level – Here’s some Insta story ideas.
- Create a FB group for you to connect with your audience on. I created BossGirlBloggers and it has helped me connect with my audience even more!
- Message your audience back if they reach out to you
- Connect through email marketing

Habit #8: They try not to run on an empty tank
I am sure many of you can relate to the feelings of running on empty! No sleep can cause lack of motivation which then turns into an unproductive day! I always try to make sure I get my rest and take breaks when necessary.
Sometimes I don’t listen to myself and stay up far later than I should because that passion is fueling me! BUT, if I don’t take breaks and give myself rest it can cause burn out and lack of motivation. That’s not beneficial!
Habit #9: They keep learning
Even the most successful bloggers are learning something new everyday! The beauty of blogging is that things are always changing. Maybe you aren’t a huge fan of change, BUT are you a huge fan of learning? I love learning something new! It keeps me going and growing! Don’t be afraid to learn something new about blogging everyday, and put those strategies into practice!
Habit #10: They don’t just dream, they create plans
It’s so easy to dream of wanting to work from home as a blogger. BUT it takes some serious action to make it happen. If you have a dream of becoming a full time blogger, then I dare you to take action and turn that dream into a plan!
Blogging as a career won’t just fall into your lap. It takes work to pull it all together. Drop the excuses, cut out the distractions, make a plan and put that plan into action!
It CAN be your full time job if you believe in your abilities and take the initiative to learn. Don’t wait until later, do it NOW and learn along the way!
If you are wanting to take your blog up a notch and turn it into your full time job, these strategies might help!
I hope this post gave you that push you needed to really get motivated and continue your journey to full time blogging! I know you can do it! This is YOUR year!!!!!!
Until Next Time,
ELL

So glad to hear you enjoyed the tips! Thank you so much!!
This list was motivating! I often tend to not try different things because I fear it will not work, and I doubt my writing a lot, I don’t make much time to plan my content out either – I think this is down to me not taking it seriously! But if I treat the blog as a full-time job it may give me the kick up the butt I really need!

Honestly, these are great and definitely what I’m going to inspire to keep up with in 2019. I’ve had my blog nearly 3 years and I’ve never wanted to make me more professional as how much I want to now.

Aw thank you so much! So glad you are going after what you want (: you got this!
Thank you so much for writing this post, it really gave me an extra push and motivation to focus on my goals this year. I started my blog last year but did not dedicate time to it so now I have a backlog of content that I want to share, so I am focusing this year and doing it. It is harder when you do this as a side thing/hobby because I have a full time job that I do enjoy, but I want to continue to share my passion for traveling and exploring my city with others, to motivate and inspire others to do the same in their free time. Thank you for your encouragement and tips, I have saved them on my Pinterest (La Vida is Belle) for future motivation!
So glad you found this post helpful! Pursuing a blog and keeping up with it can definitely be a lot of work but it’s so worth it! Don’t ever give up!!! Thank you so much for sharing!
Great post. I promised myself to professionalize (if that’s a word) and grow my blog this year. It hasn’t been easy but this motivation is needed
So glad you found it motivating! So excited to see where 2019 takes you!
Never Give Up! That’s my #1 saying. I didn’t come this far ( a year and a half later) to just throw in the towel. Yea, I have good days though mainly not so good days. But the key is my Blog is growing as so am I. Thank you for this fantastic post. Such a great reference to read over again when doubting yourself ?
Yes exactly!!! So glad you enjoyed it, thank you so much!!! (: Don’t ever give up!
Thanks for this! I am trying to treat my blog more like a job instead of a hobby. I’ve been doing it for 2 months now and I’ve made so much progress. I’m really motivated to keep going but some days it does seem like why am I spending so much time on this when I’m making pennies right now… So this was a good push for me to encourage me to maintain my motivation!
I’m so glad to hear that! Thank you so much! This will be your year ??
Thank you for posting this, no 6 “Use their own voice” is something I really try to focus on and it’s nice to see someone else agree 🙂 Also, no 10, challenge accepted hahah

You have rightly said that one who does not have patience cannot get success in blogging. Blogging is a game of patience. To get success in blogging, one has to work continuously for at least 6 months.
Thanks for telling us
Thank you for the inspiration! Really nice to hear from a successful blogger, that it can become a reality!
Thank YOU! It is so possible! you got this!
Thank you for these tips! Especially about learning from your setbacks! That is really a helpful motivation to hang in there. I have only been blogging for two months, and sometimes it does get hard. I read somewhere that most bloggers quit by 3 months, By the end of July I will hit that mark. My biggest goal for myself is to still be here showing up! Thanks again!
We all have our days where we feel pushed back but I am rooting for you!!
